Kimberly Corbett, Psy.D

Dr. Kimberly Corbett currently provides psychotherapeutic services to adults, couples, families, and children. Kimberly is a Licensed Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a certified Substance Abuse Professional.

Dr. Kimberly Corbett’s Master’s degree is in Counseling Psychology with emphasis in marriage, family, and child counseling. Dr. Kimberly Corbett completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D) with emphasis in child and adolescent psychology and psychodiagonsis/forensics in 2005. Dr. Kimberly Corbett’s dissertation was on the impact of family therapy on treatment outcomes for children with Bipolar Disorder in Level 12 residential treatment.

Additionally, Dr. Kimberly Corbett has experience treating the chronically mentally ill in both inpatient and outpatient settings, domestic violence, substance abuse, trauma, sexual abuse, affective disorders, anxiety disorders and Borderline Personality Disorder. Dr. Corbett was previously the Clinical Supervisor for the San Diego Center for Children’s level 12 RTC and the Lead Therapist for the Vista Hill Foundation’s Learning Assistance Center.

Therapy typically involves working with the individual to understand the root causes of their symptoms, and develop more effective coping mechanisms, and strategies.

  • LGBTQIA+

Therapy can help individuals explore their identity and experiences, address internalized homophobia or transphobia, and develop coping skills to manage the stressors associated with being part of a marginalized community. It can also address issues related to coming out, relationships, family dynamics, and mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression.
